Electoral College
The Electoral College was created in a time when it made sense. Times have changed. It's time for the Electoral College to be eliminated. There are to many citizens in the United States to base our Presidency on a concept that was created in 1787, OVER 200 years ago. Does it make sense that we still use a system that was created 100 years before the light bulb. The current system discourages people to vote. It is antiquated and useless. It is no longer a fair and equal system.
The Electoral College has been under serious controversy within the American public for years. Most recently with the 2000 election when Al Gore received 539,947 more votes then Bush. That is half a million citizens who's votes basicly didn't matter. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that the Electoral College is a joke. The vast majority of American's don't agree with the policy that the Electoral College forces upon us and how we choose our President. It is a guarantee that if the Electoral College was disolved that the American voter turnout would drasticly increase. People would feel like their vote really counted which would make people vote. If you live in South Dakota why vote? It never makes a difference.
All that should count and all that should matter is the amount of American citizens that actually vote. The popular vote is what should be determining who our President is. The only reason the Electoral College exists is money. The people running for President do not want to have to spend all the money and time it would take to actually visit each and every state and that states citizens. If you spend all your efforts on a few states you will be President. Sad.
Below is an interactive map of the United States that will help to explain how inaccurate the Electoral College truely is. If we are going to continue to use this ancient process then it needs to at least be accurate. The Electoral College can exist as long as the Electoral Votes are based on the amount of citizens that actually voted in that state. For more instruction on what this map is click here...

This is all just my opinion, i am not endorsed by any political party nor do i belong to any political party. That is an entire different issue. I just believe that the Electoral College is a joke and should no longer be part of the voting process. I hope people see my map and think about the way that the Electoral College works and help to reform, or better yet completely get rid of it. Email or write to your senator and house rep. They do read the letters. Aaron Hager.
